Introducing Norweez
The first underwater metaverse on Polygon with direct external use cases
After two months in stealth mode, we couldn’t be more excited to unveil the first underwater metaverse project dedicated to directly supporting ocean-restoration initiatives.
Through Norweez, we aim to bring an immersive metaverse experience where users can own ocean plots, rent them as commercial spaces, host events, and interact with each other through exclusive missions.
Not only that but we’ll stay true to our mission by deploying on Polygon, one of the most trusted and environmentally friendly networks in the industry.
What is Norweez?
Norweez is an underwater metaverse deployed on the Polygon Network and designed for users to immerse themselves in the ocean world through endless opportunities for exploration, creation, and monetization, all while directly supporting ocean-restoration initiatives.
Explore
With Norweez, users will be able to explore unique seaworlds across all five oceans with a first-person perspective and later using an in-game character. They will be able to interact with each other by participating in missions or multiplayer mini-games such as ocean races, treasure hunts, or special minting quests.
Oceans will unlock gradually, starting with the Arctic Ocean, following individual auctions of plots called Ocean Bubbles. As new oceans open up, users will be able to access each one of them by either owning Ocean Bubbles in those respective seas or oceans, minting special edition keys, or purchasing themed NFTs from our Norweez collection.
Create
While Norweez will initially feature one main in-game character, the metaverse aims to prioritize customization for an even richer user experience.
After our beta release, we plan to launch the Hatcher, a creator showroom for users to customize and design their own sea-related NFT avatars from scratch. They’ll be able to apply fictional or natural traits to the NFT avatars and even designate them as endangered species in order to fight their extinction through exclusive quests.
As in the case of other well-established metaverse projects, the center point of Norweez will be the Ocean Bubbles. Users will be able to decorate theirs with purchased NFT items from associated collections or self-designed ones using the Hatcher. Owners holding multiple adjacent bubbles will also be able to combine them and build underwater cities or metropolises, thus unlocking added layers of customization.
Monetize
As previously mentioned, we’ll be hosting individual Ocean Bubble auctions for each ocean so as many community members can take ownership in the metaverse. With the growth of Norweez, users will be able to stake their bubbles or rent them as commercial spaces.
As part of our roadmap, we’ll be also launching an internal marketplace where users can purchase bubbles for sale, trade Norweez assets, or sell their unique animal avatars designed using the Hatcher.
Direct Support
Our mission is to support initiatives focused on preserving and restoring the ocean environment by investing 20% of profits resulting from NFT Collection and Ocean Bubble sales after a vetted selection process. This will take place through governance, allowing the community to propose and vote on initiatives worthy of our support.
Norweez NFT Collection
The metaverse originally stemmed from the idea of launching a 5000-item NFT collection bearing the same name. We took inspiration from narwhals, majestic creatures often dubbed as the unicorns of the sea, and had the same mission to directly support ocean-restoration initiatives using a set share of all profits.
Now, the Norweez collection will become an even more integral part of the metaverse. Just as we plan to host Ocean Bubbles auctions for all five oceans individually, we will be organizing five separate collection sales corresponding to its respective ocean and themed accordingly.
Since Narwhals live year-round in the Arctic waters, we chose the Arctic Ocean for our first Ocean Bubble sale. The corresponding NFT collection will feature 500 Royal Norweez and will carry a 40% discount for owners planning to purchase Bubbles during the Arctic auction.

The remaining 4,500 Norweez will be split as follows:
- Antarctic Ocean — 800
- Indian Ocean — 1000
- Atlantic Ocean — 1200
- Pacific Ocean — 1500
Norweez owners will also benefit from exclusive rewards such as premier access to new features, increased staking rewards (once enabled), and perks like limited-edition merch or whitelists for collection collabs.
Why Polygon?
We couldn’t be more excited to be part of a strong and devoted community of BUIDLers on one of the most recognizable networks in the industry. Our decision to deploy Norweez on Polygon stemmed primarily from its environmentally friendly nature and advantageous gas fee structure.
It’s no secret that the current PoW mechanism on the Ethereum blockchain requires significant energy resources. As a project with a dedicated mission to support initiatives that help preserve and restore the ocean ecosystem, it was only fitting to choose Polygon for its PoS-driven resource-efficiency.
From a transaction cost perspective, Norweez users can forget about the costly wallet initialization fees, and instead enjoy very low costs while minting Ocean Bubbles or NFTs from our collection. Let’s also not forget that users can purchase or sell NFTs on Polygon gas free!
All of these and its compatibility with all the main NFT marketplaces make it the ideal home network for Norweez.
